This morning I attended an event organised by Actuarial Society of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.The event was called Actuarial Open Day for actuarial students to get a brief talk on how world of an actuarist. Usually I tried my best to join programmes organised by Actuarial Society because I was member of Actuarial Society first batch.On that time,Ahmad Fauzan was the president.I was wondered,he must be a great student because he selected as the president.I was entrepreneurship member of first year students for this society.I stil remember the first time meeting.I was late because lost in the level 6 of Faculty of Science and Technology.Haha..When entered the meeting room,I was sooo nervous because I can feel the aura of great people in the room.I do remember my name is sooo long because the president keep erasing the whiteboard to spell my name correctly.My heart say sorry for having long name.Huhu.
So,for this post I would like to write on what I gained during this event.I was late,thus I able to listen to SLOT 2 and SLOT 3.
For SLOT 2
Sir Fazli and Miss Hatiah were explained on Professional exams SOA P and SOA FM respectively.When I arrived at the hall,Miss Hatiah is explaining about the criteria of SOA FM.There are 35 questions o be answered in 3 hours period.This paper will include topics in theory of risks,such as bond,immunization,time value of money.Usually,same pattern of questions will be asked in the exam,however there will be changes for June 2017.The key to pass this paper is be well prepared.She gave us some tips,for example,start saving money and focus to prepare for the paper.There is cost for success,you need to pay for it.It can't be achieved free of charge.Approximately,the cost for this paper is RM1,000.The cost include 225 Dolar for the paper fee,RM200 for passport,RM 150 for financial calculator and the rest is for the cost of reference books.The best thing is the quote,BTDT,'been there,done that'.It means if you did practice a lot,so you will feel like you done that questions before.
For SLOT 3
This slot was held in form of forum.The panelist is alumni Ahmad Fauzan,ex-president of Actuarial Society USIM.The moderator is Haris,the second year student.I can't stop smiling during this slot because it reminds me for the first time being a moderator at Actuary Family Day on my second year.Haris is good,he tried his best to be the moderator.I was like,looking at myself for the past year being a moderator.My English Language was not excellent,I am just good enough to speak.However,my senior,Syed keep reminding me the accurate word to be used.He was sitting in front and he is English Debater.No offense,I learnt the right words.The panelist was Sir Razak and alumni Encik Rashid.

At the beginning,Haris asked Ahmad Fauzan to tell audience about himself.He is an insurance broker.He was student of foundation at Universiti Malaya.However,he can't further degree at UM because the requirement to further Actuarial Science in that university is 4.0 flat CGPA.He got offer letter from USIM,so his learning journey continues here.He got scolded by his grandfather for not getting UM as the top university in Malaysia.Same goes with me,I was scolded by my auntie,who is lecturer of UIAM Kuantan for not getting place in Dentistry USIM.She told me,"You should choose UIAM as the first place to further dentistry,at least you will get many choices to continue study if you don't secure place in dentistry".That moment happened because I asked her opinion on what programme should I choose if I do not able to further in dentistry.USIM is a new university,thats why there are limit courses offered in Faculty of Science and Technology.Then,I did research a lot on Actuarial Science so I choose it as my second choice.My learning journey continues here...and I admit,I love USIM.I learnt a lot here.I got so many chances to explore and discover the other side of me in this university.I travelled to other countries under USIM by joining 3 programmes of GISO(Global Islamic Students Outreach).2015 GISO to Jogjakarta,2016 GISO to Krabi and 2017 GISO to Cambodia and Vietnam.
Ahmad Fauzan graduated successfully at 2015.I was in charge as committee for Debate Club booth on Convo Day.I witnessed all seniors happy faces.That's so inspiring.I would like to congratulate them but I was too shy to disturb their happy moments with family and one thing,is I am shy that they will not recognize me as junior.I am not so famous amos.Haha.But I was there because my relatives ,sister Wan Nourul Akmal just graduated her master on that day.
Ahmad Fauzan said he did his best at the end of semester to finish his thesis.He got dean list for two semesters at second year and for the next years he focused on his leadership skills.I was sooo struggle at the beginning of semesters.I got dean list for two semesters at first year.Then I joined SekreFaST as Exco while being second year student and I joined Debate Club organization as exco at third year students.I make lot of mistakes because during my secondary school I was sooo passive.I never have any experiences about leadership.Thats I was starving to learn about leadership.I keep thinking the positive side of doing mistakes.Alibaba a well known millionaire said,before you reach 30 years old,do learn so many things and keep making mistakes as learning process.When you reach 30's focus on what you have interest and after 40's you will be an expert for what you focus on.However,I can't maintain to get good result because I also actively toward my passion,Arabic Debate.It's my fault too because I failed to manage time wisely.Huhu.
Now,he got passed AMII paper after struggling hard to learning while working.He said focus and time management is really important.He got target to pass for the exam,so he work on it and he achieved it.I ever have target in my life,to study dentistry,then working for government 10 years then open my own dental clinic.Life is not as easy as ABC guysss.My life turned into other path of life.I am afraid to have plan.It hurts me at the moment the plan is not achievable.So,I follow the flow,but this principle is risky.Fuhhh
Then Haris asked about Actuarial Challenge Game.Ahmad Fauzan and teammates did their best to win the competition as the second place.I knew all the members of his team are great people.Kak Nadhi was ex-SekreFaST.Kak Fatin Umirah having her success online business.Asyraf was director of ASRIM Talk.Afif was ex-president of Sekretariat Kesukarelawanan Mahasiswa and Hazrani is top student.Hazrani not giving me chance to win chess competition on Actuary Sport Day.Kahkah.So,the important keys to win is to sacrifice and teamwork.Ahmad Fauzan is good at coding as he learnt a lot from his thesis supervisor,Prof Sam and other members have their own advantages.I can see Dr Hisham as the Head Programme on that time really proud of them.
